I don’t care for wood or bamboo in high humidity, mold and insect environments. There is to much of a chance of warping for my taste.
Ceramic tile maybe a slipping hazard for older homeowners. It depends on the tile style. What ever we choose, it will be better than the usual white tiles of South Florida.There are what seems to be an unlimited number of choices. Tile sub-floors needs to be very clean for the installation.
Maybe stone, it looks fantastic. It does have a higher cost for material and installation though.
Tile Flooring
With a concrete sub-floor it is important to level the surface. Gypcrete is a liquid floor leveler that is self leveling and readies the sub-floor for finishes.
Tile flooring can be as different as any home owner would want. Do we go with a Mediterranean or Mexican style? A cool modern look? Wood patterned tile? Finished polished concrete?
I hope to have tile baseboards for the flooring. It will be easier to clean and will not introduce wood to the house finishes.

I told Jennifer V that I gave up on the two of you after many efforts……. so she sent me this. Congratulations. Definitely an exciting project and process – to match what one likes with the bank book.
My 2 cents – radient heating system with polished concrete. Sophisticated, elegant and very stylish… Smooth and cool on the feet.
Yes – the rules and reg are many – but you can handle it….
Since we are using insulated concrete forms (ICF) for the subfloor I am unsure if exposed concrete will crack a lot. I’ll ask the local designer. Also I am fearful of pipes in the concrete, if there is a leak, then what? It is so warm in the Keys, small electric wall heaters are enough.
